Who We Are
Harriet Zucker conceived What's the Hook? to document the changing face of the community. A 12-year resident of Red Hook, she has been involved with the neighborhood in many ways – from the giant snowstorm in 1996 (when no one could get out of the Hook!) through the creation of community gardens, the fight against the garbage dump and the ongoing debates over Red Hook land use…always with camera in hand.
Harriet is also well-known in the neighborhood for her involvement with the “wild dogs of Red Hook” rescuing some, caring for many and, finally, finding homes for “the last of the line.”
Harriet has always reveled in the sense of community in Red Hook. For her, What's the Hook? provides an opportunity for everyone in the neighborhood to work together on a single project despite differing personal views or visions of Red Hook.
Harriet works as both a set decorator in film and television and as a photographer. As a photographer she is represented by Getty Images and the Robin Rice Gallery. She has also shown at several galleries in the NYC area and out of town. Her work is part of the permanent display at Bloomingdale's Soho Harriet's most recent film work can be seen in The Departed and The Good Shepherd and in several locally filmed TV shows. Other set decoration credits can be found at www.imdb.com
